Doctors and para medical staff in public hospitals have gone on a token strike in the outpatients department to demand for the restoration of health risk allowance for health department employees. The Joint Action Committee office bearers, Dr Mir Manzoor, Kashif Shar, Sharif Palari, Abdul Ghaffar Rind, and others, addressed the press conference and warned that they would hold a sit-in in Karachi if their demand was not met. Although the health authorities promised to restore the allowance, there has been no action taken in that regard. The health workers urge the authorities to provide funds in the annual budget to restore the health risk allowance. This will enable the health department employees to continue their essential work without bearing undue risks to their health and wellbeing.
