Distraught Loved Ones Seek Answers as Second Model Found Dead in Downtown LA Apartment
The loved ones of a young model found dead in her downtown Los Angeles apartment are desperately seeking answers, as this marks the second similar incident within a week. The family members of Nichole Coats, known as Nikki, were devastated and frustrated by the lack of information provided by investigators.
Sharon Coats, Nikki’s mother, expressed her grief and demanded answers, stating, This is senseless and I want some answers because my daughter is gone… I want everybody to find out who did this to her. She shouldn’t be gone. Nikki’s aunt, May Stevens, echoed the sentiment, saying, We need to know what happened.
The last contact anyone had with Nikki was on Friday, September 8, when she informed her friends that she was going on a date. Unfortunately, this would be her final conversation with her loved ones. When she failed to respond to calls and messages throughout the weekend, her father and aunt decided to check on her at her apartment complex, Eighth & Grand, on September 10.
The scene they discovered was horrifying. Sharon recounted the gruesome sight, noting that her daughter’s bed was bloody and Nikki was unrecognizable. According to Stevens, Nikki’s body was in an unnatural position, with one leg raised as if in a kicking motion. She firmly believes that it was murder, stating, That’s not somebody who just laid in their bed and died.
Sharon maintained that Nikki had no enemies and was beloved by friends and the community. She is determined to find answers and bring the perpetrator to justice before they have the chance to strike again, declaring, You’re messing with the wrong person.
Tragically, Nikki’s death is the second case of a model found deceased in their downtown L.A. apartment within a three-mile radius. Maleesa Mooney, a 31-year-old model and real estate agent, was discovered dead in her apartment on South Figueroa Street on September 12. While Mooney’s case is being treated as a murder, Nikki’s has been labeled a suspicious death.
The L.A. County Coroner’s Office is still investigating the cause of Nikki’s death, and her case remains open. Friends and family of both victims are devastated and seeking justice. Concerns are growing that a serial killer may be targeting models in the area.
The investigation into these cases is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the LAPD. The community is mourning the loss of these two vibrant young women and hopes for swift resolution and closure for their grieving families.
