Disney’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Snow White has faced yet another delay. The release date, originally set for March 22, 2024, has been pushed back to March 21, 2025. However, fans have received a small consolation in the form of the first look at Rachel Zegler as Snow White.

In the released images, Zegler, known for her breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake, dons the iconic attire of the legendary Disney Princess. Surrounded by her Seven Dwarfs, Zegler exudes the charm and innocence that has captivated audiences for decades.

Gal Gadot, known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman, steps into the shoes of the Evil Queen in this reimagined version. The Huntsman is played by Ansu Kabia, while Andrew Burnap takes on the role of Jonathan.

One notable aspect of this adaptation is the reinvention of the Seven Dwarfs. The filmmakers have decided to explore a different narrative, focusing on Snow White’s journey to becoming the leader her father always wanted her to be, rather than the traditional romance plotline.

Zegler’s casting as Snow White has sparked both excitement and controversy. As the first Latina to portray the beloved princess, Zegler’s involvement brings much-needed diversity to the film. However, some fans argue that deviating from the source material risks straying too far from the original tale.

The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1937 and marked Disney’s first feature-length animated film. Now, more than 85 years later, the cast and crew behind this live-action remake promise to deliver an updated rendition of the classic fairy tale.

Snow White is directed by Marc Webb, known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man films. The script is a collaboration between Greta Gerwig, acclaimed for her films Lady Bird and Little Women, and Erin Cressida Wilson, known for her work on Secretary and The Girl on the Train.

While fans eagerly await the release of Snow White in 2025, they can look forward to experiencing Rachel Zegler’s portrayal of the iconic princess and witnessing the reimagined world of the Seven Dwarfs. The delay may be disappointing for some, but it also allows the filmmakers to ensure they deliver a truly unforgettable and updated take on a timeless tale.
