After much anticipation, Southern Railway has announced the launch of a direct train from Chennai to Bodi via Theni on June 15. Minister of State L Murugan will flag off the train, fulfilling the centenary dream of the people of Theni district. The train service, which was previously not possible due to the metregauge track between Bodi-Madurai and broad gauge track between Madurai-Chennai, will provide direct service for passengers traveling beyond Madurai to Theni district. The train will leave Chennai Central at 10.30 pm and reach Madurai at 7.10 am, with additional stops at Usilampatti, Andipatti, and Theni, arriving in Bodi at 9.35 am. The return train will leave Bodi at 8.30 pm and reach Madurai at 10.45 pm, with an onward journey to Chennai, arriving at 7.55 am. The passenger train will run daily and provide an important service for travelers.
