Direct Hajj flights from Quetta have begun, marking a significant milestone for pilgrims in the region. The new flights bring great relief to pilgrims from Balochistan, streamlining their travel experience to the holy land of Hajj. On the first night of operation, 145 pilgrims embarked for Medina directly from Quetta. Previously, pilgrims from Quetta had to undergo an additional leg of their journey to Karachi before heading to their final destination. The new development of direct Hajj flights from Quetta refers to an essential upgrade in Quetta International Airport’s infrastructure. With the new Runway Category-II, which extends over an impressive length of 12,000 feet, and the installation of modern CAT-II airfield lighting systems, landing at Quetta Airport, even during nighttime, is now a smooth and reliable experience. Thanks to these upgrades, wide-bodied aircraft, including the Boeing 777 and its equivalents, can now land comfortably at the airport. Prior to this development, PK-6133 and PK-6137 facilitated the travel of 300 Hajj pilgrims to Medina. The pilots of the new direct flights expressed their satisfaction in landing on Quetta Airport’s state-of-the-art runway. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson highlighted how these upgrades have made direct flights possible from Quetta and how they open the doors for more extensive operations. The recently enhanced facilities and infrastructure at Quetta Airport also position it as a hub for economic activity in the region. The direct Hajj flights from Quetta will make the pilgrimage experience much more comfortable and time-efficient for pilgrims from Balochistan and beyond.
