The Dick Wolf TV universe is a force to be reckoned with as it prepares to dominate the 2024 TV season. With a total of nine shows across two networks, Wolf Entertainment procedurals are taking over almost every weeknight of primetime. From Law & Order to the three FBI shows and three One Chicago shows, Dick Wolf has built an expansive TV empire. Recently, the creator/producer revealed the staggering number of people involved in his shows, and it left viewers like myself in awe.

It’s no secret that the Dick Wolf TV universe is extensive, but hearing that around 3,000 people were affected by the recent strikes is truly shocking. During a candid discussion, Wolf disclosed that the 2023 work stoppage marked his fourth strike, with the first one back in 1987 lasting an astonishing six months and two weeks. The most recent strike lasted a grueling 148 days, coming close to surpassing the record set in the 80s.

What’s striking is that the strikes impact not only the writers and actors but also every individual who works on these shows. The hiatus left all nine of Wolf’s scripted network TV shows at a halt. However, there is good news on the horizon. All nine shows are set to make a triumphant return in the new year. Starting with One Chicago on January 17 on NBC, the Law & Orders on January 18 on NBC, and the FBIs on CBS on February 13, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Dick Wolf’s success is undeniably impressive, with six out of his nine shows reaching triple digits in episode counts. FBI even hit that milestone with its Season 5 finale in the spring. Wolf has managed to create shows that remain relevant for over three decades, and when asked about the secret to his longevity, he humbly acknowledged the audience’s role in his success.

Wolf explained that viewers, like him, are drawn to the captivating stories told within his franchise. From the early days of Law & Order to the enduring popularity of SVU, there has always been a demand for these narratives. As the 22nd season of Law & Order approaches, the series will hit a mind-boggling 500 episodes, while SVU will notch its 550th episode in its upcoming 25th season. Chicago Fire will reach an impressive 250 episodes, and FBI: International will celebrate its 50th episode. Clearly, fans are still captivated by these stories.

Dick Wolf’s TV universe has become a cultural phenomenon, captivating audiences worldwide. With such a vast array of shows that have stood the test of time, it’s no wonder that strikes impacting these productions leave an indelible mark. However, as the strike comes to an end and the upcoming TV season shines brightly on the horizon, fans can rejoice in the knowledge that their favorite shows will soon be back, bringing more gripping stories and unforgettable moments.
