Current regulations and export controls are deemed inadequate to address these risks, raising concerns about the potential for widespread harm. The report calls for greater collaboration among industry, government, and academia to address regulatory challenges and gaps in oversight. Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas emphasized the need for safe, secure, and trustworthy development and use of AI technologies to mitigate these emerging threats and protect national security.
