The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has received an aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh. The move has been hailed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as a big step towards strengthening the air connectivity of the state.
With the issuance of the aerodrome license, the airport will be able to accommodate landing and take off by all persons on equal terms and conditions, and aircraft requiring specifications of runway and associated facilities including granted exemptions equal to or less than those indicated in the aerodrome Manual.
The license has been issued as a regular place of landing and departure to everyone and every aircraft subject to the conditions as contained in Schedule-I and for a period as shown in Schedule-II.
The development marks a positive milestone in the state’s efforts to improve air transport and increase connectivity. The UCADA has been authorized to use the airport for air transport operations, benefitting both locals and tourists.
The move has been praised by the Chief Minister, who thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for their support in the matter. This change will provide an opportunity for greater transport innovation across the state, which is expected to benefit citizens and businesses alike.
