Former Indian Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) party supremo, HD Deve Gowda, stated that he would like someone to point out one political party in the country that has not been associated in some way with BJP. He argued that many Congress leaders that oppose the BJP had previously aligned themselves with regional parties that supported the ruling party, often covertly. Gowda also said the definition of communal and non-communal could be enlarged and his party needed to identify candidates in places where they did not contest. With the reports of JDS’s alliance with BJP in 2024 looming, the party supremo called for a meeting to discuss their performance in the recently held assembly polls and start preparing for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) polls. Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar’s plan to convene a meeting of opposition parties in Patna on June 12 was postponed.
