The Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) continued its dominance at the 5th Junior Boys National Boxing Championships in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, as nine of their boxers secured their spots in the finals on day five of the competition. Devang and Hemant were among the standout performers, showcasing their skills and winning their respective bouts.
Devang, competing in the 54kg category, gave a brilliant start to the SSCB team with a sensational 5-0 victory over Sundram Yadav from Uttar Pradesh. Devang displayed excellent control throughout the bout, securing his third consecutive unanimous win in the competition. He will now face Nenthok Hodong from Arunachal Pradesh in the summit clash.
In the 80+kg category, Hemant Sangwan emerged victorious against Saifali Zari from Maharashtra, winning the bout by unanimous decision. Hemant will now face Vedant Dhauta from Himachal Pradesh in the finals.
The other SSCB boxers who made it to the finals are Mahesh (48kg), Divash Katare (50kg), Sahil Baord (52kg), M Kabiraj Singh (63kg), Rahul Kundu (70kg), Sahil (75kg), and Hardik Panwar (80kg). With their impressive performances, these boxers will look to secure gold medals in their respective weight categories.
Sikander from Haryana showcased a stellar performance in the 48kg category, winning the semifinals by unanimous decision against Ravindra Padvi from Maharashtra. He will now face Mahesh from SSCB in the quest for a gold medal.
Shriyansh from Punjab secured a spot in the finals in the 80kg category with a convincing win over Hamza Mohd Ahmed from Telangana. Shriyansh will face Hardik Panwar from SSCB in the finals.
Additionally, four young boxers from the host state of Arunachal Pradesh – Techi Jacky (46kg), Gayki Rie (52kg), Nenthok Hodong (54kg), and Tagio Liyak (57kg) – will also compete for the yellow metal in their respective weight categories.
The 5th Junior Boys National Boxing Championships have witnessed some outstanding performances, showcasing the talent and dedication of these young boxers. The SSCB continues to dominate the sport, with their boxers consistently performing at the highest level.
