The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has recently constructed a new pedestrian-friendly Foot over Bridge (FoB) near St Ann’s High School, Tarnaka, Secunderabad. The facility was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker T Padma Rao and Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy on Friday, and has been built at a cost of Rs 2.6 crore. This new FoB replaces the previous one that was dismantled to make way for metro rail pillars.
The new FoB is of great utilization to school children, parents, teachers, and staff as it provides a safe way for them to cross the road. The FoB will help prevent unfortunate accidents and protect the people who use it. GHMC has given high priority to creating safe pedestrian facilities across the city.
The FoB construction is a part of the GHMC’s initiative to provide safe and reliable pedestrian access in the city. The GHMC has been spending huge amounts of money to build such facilities. They have also initiated a project that involves remodelling of the existing FoBs and Pedestrian Underpasses (PUPs) across the city.
Tarnaka’s new FoB construction will provide an effective way for people to cross the road safely, especially school children, who are the primary users of the FoB. The new FoB has been built to be more spacious and user-friendly than the previous one, making it more convenient for people to use.
The GHMC has been taking a number of initiatives to ensure that the city is safe and comfortable for pedestrians. Other initiatives include widening pavements and redesigning road intersections to ensure the safety of people who travel on foot.
With the inauguration of the new FoB in Tarnaka, the GHMC has once again demonstrated its commitment to the safety of pedestrians in the city. The FoB is a major step towards providing quality infrastructure for pedestrians, and ensuring their safety while they navigate busy roads.
