Democratic Rep. Calls for Censure of Colleague Over Israel Bombing Claim

Democratic Florida Representative Jared Moskowitz has called for a censure of Democratic Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib over her refusal to accept US and Israeli findings that concluded Israel was not responsible for the bombing of a hospital in Gaza. Moskowitz argued that the House should consider a vote to censure Tlaib for spreading false information.

Tlaib, who is a member of the far-left Squad of House lawmakers, had demanded an independent investigation into the bombing at the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza City. She alleged that both the US and Israel have a history of misleading the public about wars and war crimes. Tlaib based her claims on reports made by the Hamas terrorist group.

Moskowitz, expressing his disappointment, asserted that Congress is united in its support for Israel. He urged members of Congress to rely on US intelligence and to listen to the Biden administration, which has stated that Israel was not involved in the hospital bombing.

Both the Israeli government and the White House have independently concluded that the explosion was caused by a misfired rocket from the Palestinian side of the border, specifically by the Islamic Jihad. Intercepted phone calls from Gaza and other evidence provided by Israeli officials substantiate their claim that the Israeli military was not responsible for the incident.

In contrast to Hamas’ report of 500 deaths, Israeli officials have stated that dozens of people lost their lives in the blast. Moskowitz dismissed media outlets’ immediate reports of a 500-person death toll, including that of The New York Times, claiming that there is no proof to support those numbers. He criticized members of Congress who choose to trust Hamas’ information over that of the US.

When asked about the possibility of censuring Tlaib for spreading terrorist talking points, Moskowitz suggested that once a new House speaker is in place, a censure resolution should be considered. He emphasized the importance of relying on factual US intelligence and not succumbing to propaganda from Gaza’s Ministry of Health, which he believes operates as a terrorist organization disseminating misleading information.

Investigations conducted by reputable news organizations, including the Wall Street Journal, CNN, and the Associated Press, have provided evidence that the missile came from the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization based on television footage that appeared to show a misfired Palestinian rocket above the hospital. The New York Times, which initially blamed Israel for the bombing, later acknowledged relying too heavily on Hamas’ information.

In summary, Representative Moskowitz’s call for censuring Representative Tlaib stems from her refusal to accept US and Israeli findings regarding Israel’s involvement in the bombing of a hospital in Gaza. The Israeli government and the White House have both determined that the explosion was caused by a misfired rocket from the Palestinian side of the border, implicating the Islamic Jihad. Moskowitz contends that it is important to trust US intelligence and to avoid spreading propaganda from Hamas.
