Yamuna Water Level Remains Above Danger Mark, Slight Decrease Noted

The Yamuna River in Delhi witnessed a slight decrease in water level on Tuesday morning, but it continues to remain above the danger mark. As of 7 am, the water level stood at 205.71 meters, down from the midnight reading of 206.01 meters. This decrease came after a slight rise due to rainfall in some areas of Haryana the previous day.

Earlier this month, the Yamuna water level reached a record high of 208.66 meters, causing floods in low-lying areas and displacing many residents from their homes. With the water level still above the danger mark, authorities have advised those living in relief camps not to return to their flood-affected homes.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted further rainfall in Delhi and parts of the national capital area today. The situation is being closely monitored by the Delhi government and the relevant departments.

In response to the decrease in water level, the Transport Department of the Delhi Government has relaxed certain travel restrictions. Heavy vehicles were previously restricted from entering Delhi through the Singhu, Badarpur, Loni, and Chilla borders due to waterlogging. However, heavy vehicles carrying food items and essentials were exempted from this restriction.

In a positive development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the Chandrawal and Wazirpur water treatment plants in the national capital have resumed operations. This will help ensure a stable water supply to the residents of Delhi.

While the slight decrease in the Yamuna water level offers some relief, it is essential to remain vigilant and prepared for any further changes. The authorities are taking necessary measures to address the situation and provide assistance to those affected by the floods.

As the monsoon season continues, it is crucial for the residents of Delhi to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and follow the instructions and advisories issued by the authorities. The safety and well-being of individuals should always remain the top priority.

In conclusion, although there has been a slight decrease in the Yamuna water level, it remains above the danger mark in Delhi. The situation is being closely monitored, and necessary measures are being taken to manage any potential risks. It is important for everyone to stay informed, cautious, and prepared during this monsoon season.
