Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has condemned the law and order situation in the capital city of India after a 72-year-old woman was brutally stabbed 50 times in broad daylight by three boys. The family had informed the police about the threat to the woman’s life, but no action was taken. Such gruesome murders are becoming a regular occurrence in Delhi, raising concerns of it becoming a murder capital, in addition to the existing tag of being the rape capital, Maliwal tweeted.
Police have registered a case of murder after a woman was stabbed with a sharp object in the Mandawali area of the city. The victim was taken to the hospital, but she couldn’t survive the injuries. Upon examination, the police noticed multiple piercings on the shoulder, face, side of the chest, waist, and back. Three culprits involved in the attack have been identified, and the police are searching for them.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed concern over the law and order situation in Delhi after a double murder case was reported in the RK Puram area last Sunday. On June 18, a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death after getting into a quarrel with three people. The police have identified the three accused and arrested two of them in connection with the incident.
In another tragic incident, two sisters were shot dead over a property dispute in the RK Puram area. These incidents have raised questions about the safety of citizens, especially women and senior citizens, in the city. With the crime rate increasing at an alarming rate, residents are demanding steps to be taken to improve the law and order situation and ensure the safety of everyone in the capital city.
