New Delhi, Dec 3 – The national capital experienced a slightly warmer minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday, just above the season’s average, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD also predicted that the city will witness a mainly clear sky and shallow fog on Sunday. However, from December 5-9, dense fog is expected to engulf Delhi.
With the relative humidity in Delhi reaching 100 per cent at 8.30 am on Sunday and no recorded rainfall in the last 24 hours, the weather office provided these updates.
As the city braces itself for dense fog in the coming days, commuters and authorities should prepare for reduced visibility and potential disruptions to transportation services.
The cold wave continues to grip Delhi, with temperatures dropping below normal in recent days. People are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the chilly weather conditions.
In response to the upcoming dense fog, the Delhi Traffic Police has urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, and using headlights and fog lights to improve visibility. They have also suggested using public transportation whenever possible to minimize the risk of accidents.
The sudden change in weather conditions could also negatively impact flight schedules at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Travelers are advised to stay updated with the airlines and airport authorities for any potential delay or rescheduling of their flights.
Residents of Delhi are accustomed to facing dense fog during winter months, which often leads to disruptions in daily life. The fog not only affects transportation but also poses health risks due to increased pollution levels. It is recommended that Delhiites wear appropriate warm clothing, including scarves and gloves, and take necessary precautions to maintain good respiratory health.
The upcoming days are crucial for people in Delhi to remain aware of weather updates and take necessary precautions. While dense fog may cause inconvenience, it is essential to prioritize safety and plan ahead for any potential disruptions.
