Delhi LG Expresses Concern Over Contractual Appointments, Assures Their Termination

In a recent development, Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena has expressed disapproval of the practice of appointing individuals on contract basis against permanent vacancies in the government. He assured that such appointments will be terminated at the earliest.

During a ceremony, Lt Governor Saxena distributed 849 appointment letters to newly recruited employees in various departments and agencies of the city government. This comes after the successful filling of 17,000 vacancies in the past year, with another 1,495 people recruited for the Education Department in the last six months alone.

The Lt Governor’s concern over contractual appointments stems from the belief that such practices are not in the best interest of the government and its employees. Contractual appointments often lack the stability and security that permanent positions offer. Furthermore, they can lead to job insecurity and a lack of benefits for the individuals involved.

It is important to note that permanent vacancies in the government should ideally be filled by permanent employees, ensuring a stable workforce capable of efficiently and effectively carrying out their duties. By relying on contractual appointments, the government runs the risk of destabilizing its workforce and hindering the delivery of essential services to the citizens of Delhi.

Lt Governor Saxena’s assurance to terminate such appointments indicates his commitment to rectifying this practice and upholding the principles of fairness and transparency. By doing so, he aims to ensure that permanent appointments are made for permanent vacancies, safeguarding the interests of government employees while maintaining the smooth functioning of the government machinery.

In conclusion, Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena’s disapproval of the practice of appointing individuals on contract basis against permanent vacancies in the government reflects his concerns regarding job insecurity and the lack of benefits for employees. His commitment to terminating such appointments at the earliest showcases his dedication to rectifying this issue and ensuring fairness for all government employees. With a focus on permanent appointments, the Lt Governor aims to guarantee a stable workforce capable of delivering efficient and effective services to the people of Delhi.
