Delhi Police obtains 9-day custody of Sampat Nehra for cross-examination with Lawrence Bishnoi on extortion charges

Delhi’s Saket Court has granted the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch a nine-day remand for Sampat Nehra following their request to confront him with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in an extortion case. Lawrence Bishnoi was already in police custody in connection with the case. The court had previously granted the police a ten-day remand for Lawrence Bishnoi on Thursday. The case pertains to extortion calls made to a South East Delhi advocate. Sampat Nehra was produced in court on production warrants from Punjab and had been in judicial custody until the court granted the police’s custody remand request. The police are seeking this remand period to confront Sampat Nehra with Lawrence Bishnoi and identify the sources of weapons and money used by gangs in various places to commit offenses in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. The complainant in the case and advocate, Ramandeep Singh, had received multiple threatening calls from an international number demanding INR 1 crore. Efforts are being made to identify the source of the threatening calls.
