Delhi Police Chargesheet Six in Tillu Tajpuria Murder Case
The Delhi Police’s special cell has filed a murder charge sheet against six individuals accused of killing Tillu Tajpuria. Tillu was allegedly murdered in Tihar Jail in May of this year. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Snigdha Sarvaria of Patiala House Court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet, with the next hearing scheduled for August 17.
On Thursday, Delhi Police filed the charge sheet under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 201 (disappearance of evidence), 34 (Common Intention) read with 120B (criminal Conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused individuals, namely Yogesh alias Tunda, Deepak Dabas alias Teeter, Riyaz Khan, Rajesh Karambir, Vinod alias Chavanni, and Ata Ur Rahman, are currently in judicial custody following police interrogation.
The incident was initially registered as an FIR by the local police before being transferred to the special cell for investigation. The court had previously instructed the jail authorities to ensure the safety and security of the accused.
According to reports, the murder was allegedly a revenge plot against Jitender alias Gogi, who was shot dead in Rohini Court in September 2021 by members of the Tillu Tajpuria gang. The investigation conducted by the special cell included statements from three eyewitness inmates.
The brutal murder, captured on Tihar jail’s CCTV footage, became viral. The assailants were seen dragging Tillu Tajpuria from his cell and viciously attacking him.
