The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the police to respond to a mother, who seeks information about her baby. The child was allegedly abducted by an unknown woman from the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital soon after his birth. According to the mother’s counsel, a woman reportedly impersonated the maternal grandmother of the child to hospital staff and took away the baby without proper identity verification. The court has asked the police to locate the child and submit a status report on the matter. The next hearing is set for July 18. The mother moved to court after the police did not take action on her complaint. The police, however, claimed to be making efforts to locate the infant and had questioned the hospital staff.
