The Delhi High Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to arrest self-styled godman Virendra Dev Dixit, who heads an ashram in Rohini, on charges of sexual exploitation. Dixit has been on the run and is designated as a proclaimed offender. The court also ordered the CBI to investigate the living conditions of women at the ashram and the funds being disbursed for payments towards rent. It has stressed on investigating any violation of religious institutions’ prevention of misuse act. Previously, a significant number of videos pertaining to the case had been uploaded by Dixit or his supporters to different social media channels.

The court has directed the CBI to arrest Dixit and investigate the living conditions of women at the ashram and the funds being disbursed for payments towards rent. It has stressed investigating if any violation of religious institutions’ prevention of misuse act.
The ashram in question is connected to several properties throughout the country, and the respective authorities will be under an obligation to inquire whether the provisions of the act are being violated or not. Dixit or his supporters have uploaded a significant number of videos to different social media channels related to the case since March 2018.
