Delhi CM Suspends Deputy Director Accused of Repeatedly Raping Friend’s Minor Daughter
New Delhi, Aug 21 – Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken swift action by suspending the Deputy Director of Delhi government’s Women and Child Development department, who has been accused of repeatedly raping his friend’s minor daughter. The shocking rape case surfaced in North Delhi’s Burari, where the accused allegedly subjected the victim to multiple acts of rape between 2020 and 2021.
The accused not only committed these heinous crimes but also involved his wife in the act, who allegedly assisted him and failed to report the matter to the police. A police source revealed that as his wife actively participated in the criminal activities, they have added Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) in the First Information Report (FIR) against her.
The victim, a Class 12 student, encountered the accused at a local church where he frequently visited. Tragically, the victim’s father passed away in 2020, resulting in her falling into a state of depression. Taking advantage of her vulnerable state, the accused befriended her and lured her to his house under the pretext of offering assistance.
Perhaps the most disturbing revelation is that when the victim became pregnant, she was threatened with severe consequences by the accused. Upon confiding in the accused’s wife, instead of offering support, she organized the abortion of the unborn child. The woman sent her son to acquire abortion pills which were administered to the victim. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, and once she is discharged, the police will arrange for her statement to be recorded.
The police have registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 376(2)(f), 506, 509, 323, 313, 120B, and 34, as well as sections 6/21 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, against both the accused and his wife.
This case has sent shockwaves through the community and has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of minors. It highlights the urgent need for stricter regulations and measures to protect children from sexual predators. The Delhi government must now take proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens, especially vulnerable individuals such as minors.
The suspension of the accused Deputy Director demonstrates the government’s zero-tolerance stance towards such grave offenses. However, it is essential to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served, and the guilty are held accountable for their actions.
This distressing incident calls for collective action from society, law enforcement agencies, and government bodies to prevent such horrifying crimes and safeguard the rights of children. It is crucial to raise awareness, provide counseling and support to victims, and implement stringent measures that deter potential offenders.
The Delhi CM’s prompt response in suspending the accused is commendable but further action is needed to address the underlying issues that enable such incidents to occur. The nation must unite to create a safer environment for all, where no child lives in fear or falls victim to such heinous acts.
