Delhi Businessman Threatened with Death Over Extortion Money Demand of Rs 10 Crore

Delhi businessman fears for his life after receiving death threats for non-payment of Rs 10 crore in alleged extortion money, according to officials. The victim, a resident of the Pitampura area in Delhi and owner of a mechanical instrument business, received a call from a man who threatened to kill him or one of his family members if he didn’t pay Rs 10 crore. The caller, who identified as gangster Kapil Sangwan, demanded the extortion money as protection money via WhatsApp. The victim disconnected the call but later received threatening voice messages, adding to his fears.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the victim’s complaint. The victim also revealed details of the threatening WhatsApp call during an investigation. The police have booked the case under Sections 387 and 506 of the IPC, which deal with putting or attempting to put a person in fear and punishment for criminal intimidation, respectively. The police are currently investigating the case.

The incident has highlighted the increasing number of crimes related to extortion in Delhi and raises concerns over the safety of business owners. Delhi has seen a surge in such cases in recent years, with some businesses receiving several extortion calls.
