New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a heatwave in Delhi and heavy rains in Kerala, along with cyclone Biparjoy effect in certain areas. According to IMD, the advancement of the Southwest Monsoon is likely to bring heavy rainfall to Southern and Eastern India. However, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh will continue to experience heatwave conditions for the next five days.
In its daily weather bulletin, IMD has forecasted heavy rainfall in the southern state of Kerala over the next 24 hours. The states of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Interior Karnataka, and Islands are also likely to experience scattered rainfall. The forecast also indicates moderate rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls in Northeast India over the next five days, with Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim witnessing heavy downpours in the next 24 hours.
Bihar, Jharkhand, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will continue to experience heatwave conditions for the next five days, while New Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to see heatwave conditions till June 13. IMD has issued a cyclone alert for the Saurashtra and Kutch coast in Gujarat, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch on June 15 and 16. North Gujarat and South Rajasthan are also expected to see heavy rainfall on June 16. Meanwhile, Gujarat is likely to see a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 4-6 degrees during the next 4-5 days, with no significant changes expected for the rest of the country.
The IMD’s predictions are largely in line with the onset of the monsoon season in India, where the country witnessed a delayed arrival of monsoons this year. As weather patterns continue to shift each year, it’s important for people to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to keep themselves safe in such conditions.
