A decomposed carcass of a leopard has been discovered in the forested area of Aarey Colony in suburban Mumbai, according to a forest official. The finding comes after forest authorities carried out a combing operation following the discovery of three abandoned leopard cubs in the same area last week. The carcass was found on Sunday afternoon near the site where the cubs were found, raising concerns about the whereabouts of the mother leopard. The animal has not been captured in camera traps set up in various trails throughout the region. The carcass has been examined by a veterinarian to rule out hunting or poaching, and samples have been sent for DNA analysis. Meanwhile, the cubs are currently being housed at the rescue center of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
