A tragic incident unfolded on Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link, resulting in three fatalities and six individuals sustaining injuries. The deadly car crash occurred when a Toyota Innova, traveling at a high speed, collided with multiple vehicles on the sea link. The incident took place just 100 meters before the toll booth, according to the authorities.

The sequence of events began at approximately 10.15 p.m. when the Toyota Innova collided with a Mercedes Benz in the northbound lane, near the toll booth at the Bandra end of the sea link. In an attempt to escape, the driver of the Innova continued driving and crashed into several cars in the toll queue. The impact of the collisions left a total of nine people injured, with three tragically losing their lives. Two of the injured individuals are reported to be in critical condition.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishnakant Upadhyay revealed that apart from the Innova, five other vehicles were involved in this unfortunate accident on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The Innova was carrying seven people, including the driver, at the time of the incident.

The driver of the Toyota Innova, who sustained minor injuries, has been detained by the authorities. The police have also seized the vehicle. A case has been registered against the Innova driver, based on the preliminary information available. Further investigations are currently underway.

This recent tragedy adds to the list of car crashes that have occurred on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in recent months. The 5.6-kilometer-long sea link, equipped with eight lanes, connects Bandra in West Mumbai to Worli in South Mumbai. The frequency of accidents on this busy stretch of road has raised concerns among the authorities.

The incident serves as a reminder of the urgent need to prioritize road safety measures and enforce stricter traffic regulations. The authorities must take appropriate actions to prevent further accidents and improve safety conditions for commuters on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

It is our hope that those injured in the crash will receive the necessary medical attention and recover swiftly. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident.
