The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has given industry stakeholders more time to submit their comments on a consultation paper about the definition of international traffic. The body released the paper in response to a request from two organisations for Trai to instruct telecom service providers to allow transmission of transactional SMS traffic under the domestic route. The regulator has suggested that international traffic is defined as international long-distance traffic originating in one country and terminating in another country, where one of the countries is India. Stakeholders now have until 20 June to submit their comments, and until 4 July to send counter comments, instead of 30 May and 13 June, respectively.
