The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved the change in land use of a plot in order to construct a new five-lane toll plaza with an RFID system. The new plaza will be situated next to the existing toll plaza and will assist in the decongestion of traffic in the area. The decision comes after numerous complaints were received by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) regarding the long traffic jams caused by the toll collection at Ghazipur border service lane. The new system will enable the swift flow of traffic and prevent future build-ups. MCD will have to fulfil other formalities before starting the construction work including inviting public objection and finalizing terms and conditions for transferring the land. Once the new plaza is built, commercial vehicles will be diverted there. The RFID system has been installed at 13 toll plazas for smooth collection of taxes. These 13 points handle 80-85% of commercial vehicles entering the city. To simplify the collection at other places, MCD has prepared a pilot project through FastTag at Kundli.
