The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray, flagged off a bicycle rally from the DC Office Complex to celebrate World Bicycle Day. The rally consisted of numerous students from various schools organized by the District Administration Kupwara. The event highlighted the importance of physical activities such as running, walking, cycling, and exercise in promoting physical and mental well-being through eco-friendly conveyance. The theme of this year’s World Health Day is Cycle for Health.
The bicycle rally started from the DC office complex, proceeded through Helpal, Mougalpora, Gushi and culminated at Government Degree College (Boys) Kupwara. DC Kupwara emphasized the health benefits of physical activity, such as lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and promoting well-being. Reviving cycling is crucial to solve the dual issues of pollution and unhealthy lifestyles.
Cycling is an excellent sport, as well as a mode of transport, which is pollution-free and fuel-free. Various other officials were also present, such as the CEO Kupwara, CMO Kupwara, District Youth Service & sports officer, and others. Similar cycle rally events were held at block headquarters and health and wellness centers in the district.
In conclusion, the bicycle rally aimed to popularize the usage of cycles and promote the importance of physical activity in maintaining good health and overcome health-related issues.
