Daniel Cormier Doubts Jake Paul’s MMA Bout with Nate Diaz After Boxing Match Victory

Daniel Cormier, former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, has expressed doubt over the possibility of Jake Paul facing off against Nate Diaz in an MMA bout following their recent boxing match. Paul emerged victorious against Diaz in a unanimous decision last Saturday in Dallas in a 185-pound boxing match aired live on DAZN/ESPN+ pay-per-view.

Paul, who serves as a brand ambassador for PFL (Professional Fighters League), proposed a rematch with Diaz, but Cormier believes the fight is unlikely to happen, and if it did, it wouldn’t bode well for Paul. Cormier stated on his YouTube channel, Nate will submit him. If they fight, Nate will submit him. I’ll take less confidence in Jake Paul fighting Nate in MMA because of last weekend. Jake’s best chance of dominating Nate Diaz was in boxing, and he didn’t. While he did win the fight convincingly, he didn’t put him out like many people thought he would – and that’s different.

Although Cormier acknowledges that Paul exceeded his expectations, he still believes there is room for improvement. He commends Paul for his tenacity, particularly in pushing through when fatigue sets in. Jake Paul, for me, did a good job – but still shows that there’s a lot of work to be done, Cormier remarked. What I will say about Jake Paul: He’s better than people try to give him credit for and he’s a lot tougher than people try to give him credit for, because one of the areas I thought he would struggle was when it got hard, he would kind of fold up and go back to making videos or doing something different. But he doesn’t pack it in – he fights through the tough times.

Cormier’s analysis of Paul’s performance highlights his belief that Paul’s best chance of victory against Diaz lies in the realm of boxing rather than MMA. Despite Paul’s success in the boxing match, Cormier emphasizes that it does not guarantee the same outcome in an MMA contest where Diaz’s submission skills could come into play.

As the conversation continues surrounding a potential rematch between Paul and Diaz, fans eagerly await the verdict on whether the MMA clash will indeed come to fruition. Cormier’s doubts, however, cast a shadow of uncertainty over the possibility of the two fighters stepping into the octagon together. With Cormier’s knowledge and experience in the MMA world, his perspective carries weight and provides an interesting counterpoint to the ongoing debate.
