Bihar Chief Minister Assures Strict Action in Brutal Assault on Dalit Woman
In a shocking incident, a Dalit woman in Bihar’s Patna district was stripped, assaulted, and even urinated upon by a moneylender and his associates. The incident allegedly occurred due to her complaint against the moneylender’s demand for more money, even after she had fully repaid her debt. The incident has sparked outrage, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has vowed to take strict action against the perpetrators.
The main accused, Pramod Singh, and his son, Anshu Singh, are currently absconding, and a manhunt has been launched to bring them to justice. The victim, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, stated that despite repaying the borrowed money with interest, the moneylender continued to demand more money, which they refused to pay.
The horrifying attack took place in a village under the jurisdiction of Khusrupur Police Station on the night of September 23. Pramod Singh allegedly threatened the victim over the phone, stating that he would publicly parade her naked in the village if she did not comply with his demand for more money. Fearing for her safety, the woman reported the matter to the police.
However, instead of receiving protection, she became the target of further violence. The family member of the victim explained that a police team visited the village to investigate the complaint, which seemed to anger Pramod Singh and his associates. As a result, they forcibly took her to Pramod’s house, where she was stripped, beaten with fists and sticks, and even made to endure the degrading act of having urine poured into her mouth.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Patna), Rajeev Mishra, assured that efforts are being made to arrest the accused, with five police teams conducting searches. A case has already been registered, and further investigation is underway to bring justice to the victim.
This horrific incident sheds light on the ongoing issues of caste-based discrimination and violence against Dalit individuals in India. It calls for immediate attention and action from authorities to ensure justice is served and the perpetrators are held accountable for their heinous actions. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for a society free from such cruelty and discrimination, where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.
As the investigation unfolds, it is hoped that justice will prevail, bringing solace to the victim and sending a strong message that such acts of violence will not be tolerated. The assurance from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take strict action against those involved in the assault provides a glimmer of hope that justice will be served, and steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. Society must stand united against such crimes and strive for a more inclusive and empathetic environment, where every individual is valued and protected.
