Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss issues of mutual interest and strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Among the topics discussed were energy trade, commerce, air routes, and the expansion of trade and transit. Following their meeting, the two prime ministers signed an agreement to build the Siliguri-Jhapa Petroleum Pipeline and laid the foundation for the Sunauli Bhairahawa Integrated Checkpost, a petroleum pipeline from Amlekhganj to Lothar in Chitwan, and a 400 KV double circuit transmission line between Gorakhpur and New Butwal.

During the press conference, Prime Minister Dahal discussed Nepal’s request for additional high-altitude entry routes and appreciated India’s positive response to the country’s request for air entry routes for bilateral flights. Nepal and India also signed a long-term power agreement in which Nepal will sell excess power to India, as well as agreements for the Pukhot-Karnali Hydropower Project and the Lower Arun Hydropower Project with Indian investment.

Dahal and Modi also signed agreements between Nepal and India on digital payments. It is exciting to see the strong partnership between these two countries, as they work together to improve trade, energy, and transport infrastructure and continue to strengthen their relationship.
