The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall for the next five days in Kerala after the Cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’ has developed into an extremely severe cyclonic storm. The storm has resulted in a yellow alert being issued for several districts in the state, including Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kozhikode for Sunday and Monday. The fishermen across the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu have been banned from fishing until June 15.

According to the IMD statement, the wind speeds will touch 40-50 kmph along and off the Saurashtra coast. The wind speed may increase up to 50-60 kmph and gusting to 70 kmph. The IMD has issued instructions to all fishermen at sea to return to the coast and conduct onshore and offshore activities judicially while the storm prevails.

District authorities are advised accordingly, said the IMD, urging state governments to monitor the situation in their areas regularly and take appropriate precautionary measures. The IMD further instructed all concerned authorities to keep a close watch to avoid any potential emergency situations.

As the Cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’ turns intense, the IMD has warned the people of Kerala to stay alert, and urged everyone to take necessary precautions for their safety. With the weather changing fairly quickly over the last few days, it becomes critical to keep a check on the latest updates by the IMD and follow all necessary guidelines to avoid any losses during the storm.

The people of Kerala are urged to stay home and avoid leaving their houses unless there is an emergency. The state government has also instructed all essential service providers to be on high alert and take necessary precautions to keep essential services operational during the extreme weather conditions.

Keeping safety as the top priority, it is essential to follow all necessary guidelines and instructions to avoid any mishaps due to the severe Cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy.’
