Customs Officer Dies in Tragic Collision on Lagos-Badagry Expressway
A tragic incident unfolded on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway earlier today, resulting in the loss of a customs officer’s life. According to reports from the scene, the accident occurred at Elijah Bus Stop, Araromi-Ale, Oko-Afo, at approximately 11:20 a.m. The customs officer, identified as the victim, was traveling from Lagos in his Toyota Camry car when he collided with an oncoming Mark Truck at high speed.
The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Williams Manga, provided details of the unfortunate incident. He explained that the customs officer, in a wrongful attempt to overtake, crashed into the truck, resulting in the fatal outcome. The unit was alerted to the accident at 11:25 a.m. and swiftly arrived at the scene just ten minutes later. Tragically, the customs officer had already passed away.
With the assistance of customs personnel and soldiers in the vicinity, the victim’s body was extracted from the vehicle and transported to the General Hospital in Badagry for further arrangements. Dr Olatunde Bakare, the Medical Director of the hospital, confirmed that the customs officer was brought in deceased and his remains have been placed in the hospital’s mortuary.
