CSBGAfrica, a foundation dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs in Africa, is set to award a grant of N3.75 million to Nigerian startups. The Chief Executive Officer of CSBGAfrica, Gbenga Adenuga, recently announced that the foundation has finalized plans to award N250,000 grants to each of the top 15 young Nigerians who excel in a business ideas pitch competition organized by the firm.
The purpose of these grants is to provide a financial boost to the winners, allowing them to kick-start their ideas and grow their businesses. Adenuga revealed that there were a staggering 6,000 applications for the grant, but CSBGAfrica will be narrowing down the number to a more manageable level. Out of this pool of applicants, 15 entrepreneurs with promising ideas will emerge as the winners.
Speaking to the press in Lagos, Adenuga explained that the funds for the grants are being provided by himself, as well as friends, family, and associates. He expressed his commitment to assisting people and becoming a philanthropist in Africa. Adenuga stated, If I make a billion naira, what do I need it for? I will obviously give 90% of it out to the needy. He also emphasized the need for millionaires and billionaires in Nigeria to support small businesses that are struggling and in need of funds to get off the ground.
Tomorrow’s event, which will determine the grant recipients, promises to be engaging and informative. Motivational talks will be delivered by experts from various fields. The program, titled Rethink, Realize, and Redirect, will take place at the MUSON Centre in Lagos. Adenuga highlighted that participants will have the opportunity to learn how to achieve sustainable business growth. He acknowledged that the journey as an entrepreneur can be challenging but believes that the event will provide invaluable insights from successful entrepreneurs who have faced the ups and downs of the business world.
CSBGAfrica offers a platform for aspiring, young, upcoming, and successful entrepreneurs in Nigeria and its surrounding areas to come together and exchange ideas on how to turn their visions into reality. The foundation aims to help them learn from established entrepreneurs, avoid potential pitfalls, and navigate the challenges that come with running a business.
