A personal security officer (PSO) for Rajasthan BJP state chief C.P. Joshi has filed a complaint regarding the loss of his pistol during a demonstration that took place close to the state secretariat. Joshi and party state in-charge Arun Singh led the protest which aimed to express their displeasure with the alleged institutional corruption and exam paper leaks that have occurred under the Congress government. The PSO, Mahendra Meena, made a statement to police, indicating that his pistol had been removed by an unknown individual. Meena reported that the pistol went missing after the rally reached the Statue Circle and police used water cannons to disperse the crowd of protesters. Complaints of stolen cash and wallets belonging to several BJP workers during the demonstration were also lodged at the Ashok Nagar police station.
The Rajasthan BJP had taken action on Tuesday in Jaipur, with a plan to surround the secretariat with protesters until a significant police presence disrupted their efforts. Two senior leaders, former state chief Satish Poonia and Vasundhara Raje Scindia, were absent from the protest, prompting political discussions. The party has clarified that Poonia is currently in Uttar Pradesh, while Raje is in Jharkhand for organization work.
The police have opened an investigation by registering an FIR after receiving the complaint from Meena, regarding the lost pistol. During the BJP’s demonstration, not just a police pistol was taken, but also incidents of theft concerning cash and wallets belonging to BJP workers were reported. It is yet to be seen how the situation develops in the near future.
