Covid-19 wave peaks in Singapore, doctors anticipate surges

The fresh wave of Covid-19 in Singapore has reached its peak, but patient loads remain high, according to doctors. Despite a 20 percent decrease in Covid cases since December, some clinics are still facing higher-than-usual numbers of patients. Healthway Medical Group, for example, sees an average of 50 to 60 patients with respiratory infections each day across its 57 clinics. While this is a 10 percent increase compared to regular patient loads, it is a slight drop from the peak around Christmas. OneCare Medical, with its 38 clinics, is also experiencing a stabilizing number of cases. Doctors are preparing for possible surges in the coming months by planning for additional manpower and medication supply. They anticipate that gatherings during the upcoming Chinese New Year and ongoing travel will contribute to the prevalence of infectious diseases, but hope to see a downward trend in the coming weeks. Despite the peak of the Covid wave, doctors remain vigilant and focus on providing adequate care for their patients.
