Gunman’s Bank Deposit Raises Questions in Council Worker’s Murder Case
In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that the gunman who took the life of a council worker had deposited £1,000 cash into his bank account just two days after the shooting. The court hearing the case was left stunned by this development.
The victim, Ashley Dale, a respected environmental health worker, was tragically shot at her home in Old Swan, Liverpool, on August 21 last year. The gunman, James Witham, has admitted to manslaughter, but four other defendants – Niall Barry, Sean Zeisz, Ian Fitzgibbon, and Joseph Peers – deny her murder. The incident is believed to have occurred as a result of a feud with Ashley’s partner, Lee Harrison.
During the trial at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, it was revealed that Joseph Peers had booked a two-night stay for himself and Witham at the Mercure Hotel in St Helens, Merseyside. Surveillance footage showed them checking into the hotel and paying in cash. They checked out on August 23, the same day Witham was captured on CCTV at the Liverpool One shopping center.
The court was informed that Witham spent £245 in cash at the Footasylum store, purchasing new trainers and socks, and another £129 in the Everton store using his card. Most notably, at 2:55 pm, he deposited £1,000 into his bank account.
Detective Sergeant Graeme Sutton testified that phone records indicated Witham and Peers traveled to Scotland later that day. In a separate development, Ian Fitzgibbon flew from Birmingham Airport to Dubai with his sister Claudia on August 23. CCTV footage captured Niall Barry and his girlfriend Lucy Worley arriving at the Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa on August 24. Armed officers apprehended Barry at the hotel, with the prosecution explaining that he had been in contact with a person known as a fixer, who allegedly assisted individuals in fleeing the country.
The accused individuals, James Witham, Ian Fitzgibbon, Sean Zeisz, Niall Barry, and Joseph Peers, all residents of Merseyside, deny conspiracy to murder Lee Harrison, conspiracy to possess a prohibited weapon (a Skorpion sub-machine gun), and ammunition, as well as the murder of Ashley Dale. Another defendant, Kallum Radford, denies assisting an offender.
This recent revelation regarding the deposition of cash into the gunman’s bank account has left both the court and the public perplexed. It raises questions about the motive behind the shooting and the involvement of the other defendants. Witham’s actions immediately after the crime seem suspicious and may shed light on the events that led up to this tragic incident.
The trial continues as the court examines further evidence to understand the full extent of the involvement of each defendant. The public awaits justice for Ashley Dale and hopes that the truth surrounding her untimely death will be revealed.
