Construction work on Yatri Niwas and the Disaster Management Center under the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) CSR initiative has begun in Jammu, India. The facility will be developed at Majeen Jammu at a cost of Rs 51 crore. The Yatri Niwas will provide accommodation for 30,000 Shri Amarnath pilgrims every year and will be particularly helpful for yatris from weaker sections. It will help in traffic management and ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience. The facility is being built to ease the lives of devotees embarking on the annual pilgrimage of Baba Amarnath. LG Sinha has expressed gratitude to the Union Petroleum Minister for approving additional Yatri Niwas under CSR initiatives for Baba Amarnath devotees. The work for upgrading the Yatra track is being done on a war footing, and telecommunication towers and cell on wheels are being installed by telecom service providers to strengthen communication connectivity. The Yatri Niwas is set for completion within an 18-month time period.
