Construction Begins on AIIMS Rewari, Expected to be Ready by 2026

The long-awaited AIIMS Rewari project in Majra village has finally commenced construction, and it is anticipated to be ready for operation by 2026. HLL Infra Tech Service Ltd (HITES), a subsidiary of HLL Lifecare Limited under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has been appointed as the executing agency for this prestigious project.

The Haryana government has already handed over possession of 203 acres of land to the Union Ministry, marking a significant milestone in the development of AIIMS Rewari. The construction of the boundary wall is already underway, and a grand ceremony is being planned for the foundation stone laying ceremony. Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh expressed his excitement about the project, stating that it would not only revolutionize the health sector but also generate numerous employment opportunities.

With an estimated cost of Rs 1,300 crore, the construction of AIIMS Rewari will bring immense benefits to the people of Rewari, Mahendergarh, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, and even parts of Rajasthan. The project is expected to create 3,000 direct job opportunities and 10,000 indirect job opportunities, providing a significant boost to the local economy.

Singh, who has been tirelessly working towards the establishment of AIIMS Rewari, took the opportunity to address his opponents and critics who had doubted the feasibility of such an ambitious project. He emphasized that the arrival of AIIMS Rewari had caught them off guard and disrupted their sleep. The construction of the institute in Rewari will not only enhance healthcare facilities in the region but also be a game-changer for the large population it will serve.

Recently, a team from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare visited Rewari to demarcate the land and take possession of the 203 acres allocated for the project. This significant step demonstrates the commitment of the state government and the executing agency towards the timely completion of AIIMS Rewari.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, in response to a request from MP Rao Inderjit Singh, had announced plans to establish AIIMS in Rewari during an election rally in 2015. However, the project faced delays due to challenges in acquiring suitable land. In 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that AIIMS would be set up in Rewari. Initially planned for Manethi village, the project had to be relocated to Majra village due to land acquisition obstacles caused by the presence of the Aravalis.

Once completed, AIIMS Rewari will feature 750 beds, a medical college, a nursing college, specialized ICU facilities, and super speciality units. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to cater to 1,500 patients at the outpatient department daily.

The development of AIIMS Rewari holds immense promise for the region. It will not only raise the bar for healthcare services but also boost employment opportunities for the local community. The initiation of construction marks a significant milestone in the journey towards a healthier and more prosperous future for the people of Rewari and surrounding areas.
