The University of Mysore’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N.K. Lokanath, emphasized the importance of continuous environmental conservation efforts during a greenery program in Ramakrishnanagar. He stated that spreading the message of conservation only on World Environment Day is not enough, and that nurturing plants and trees should not be limited to one day. During the event, Suyog Hospital and Suyog College of Nursing also presented ‘Parisara Poshaka’ Awards to recognize conservation efforts.
The theme of this year’s Environment Day was Beat Plastic Pollution, and Prof. Lokanath stressed that the public should shed the single-use of plastics. He also urged people to create awareness about the environment and participate in conservation activities. Prakash also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of separating dry and wet waste to dispose of garbage properly and to facilitate the scientific processing of plastic materials.
Chairman of Suyog Hospital, Dr. S.P. Yoganna, noted that the loss of greenery would cause an imbalance in the environment, and called on the people of Mysuru city to prioritize the planting of trees.
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Managing Director of Suyog Hospital, Dr. Suyog Yoganna, Medical Director Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Trustee Sudha Yoganna, Director Dr. Seema Yoganna, and donor of plants Lokesh.
Efforts like these are essential in promoting environmental conservation. By constantly advocating for the importance of greenery and everyone’s role in maintaining it, we can act together and preserve our ecosystem for current and future generations.
