Former Madhya Pradesh minister Archana Chitnis has criticized the Congress party’s ‘Nari Samman’ scheme, which was launched as a counter to the state government’s ‘Laadli Behna’ initiative. Chitnis accused Congress of starting yet another hoax in the name of women’s respect. She cited heaps of discarded registration forms to support her argument and advised against providing personal and banking details to unauthorized persons due to the increasing incidence of cybercrime.
Meanwhile, MP Gyaneshwar Patil chaired a beneficiary conference at Agrasen Bhawan in Burhanpur. Promising functional tap water by Diwali under the water conservation scheme, Patil elaborated on the ‘Laadli Behna’ scheme, which provides Rs 1,000 in monthly cash assistance to married women. City Congress committee president Rinku Tank countered with the claim that, so far, the ‘Nari Samman’ program has outperformed the ‘Laadli Behna’ initiative, citing over 60 lakh filled forms across the state.
With the state assembly polls approaching, both Congress and the ruling party are competing for the support of women voters, who make up the largest percentage of the electorate. Campaigns are targeting these voters, and both parties are presenting programs that they hope will attract them.
