Bharatiya Janata Party Maharashtra unit President, Chandrashekar Bawankule, has claimed that the Congress government in Karnataka will repeal the anti-cow slaughter law. After repealing the anti-conversion law, the next target is reportedly the anti-cow slaughter law. The anti-conversion law was recently revoked on the orders of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Concerned about Prakash Ambedkar’s visit to the tomb of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, the BJP leader warned that a single vote to them will lead to changing the name of Sambhaji Nagar to Aurangabad. Last year, the Maharashtra state cabinet approved the renaming of Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv, which resulted in clashes. The move was criticised by locals who saw it as an attempt to erase Aurangzeb’s legacy. Overall, the BJP leader’s comments have sparked controversy among political groups in the state.
