Kolkata, January 27: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has announced that the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be ready before the dates for the general polls are announced. Tharoor stated that the first draft of the manifesto will be released by February 15, with the final version coming out prior to the Election Commission’s announcement.
Tharoor expressed optimism that the opposition bloc, INDIA, may incorporate elements from the manifestos of parties in the alliance to create a comprehensive list of core issues. He highlighted the importance of addressing key concerns such as unemployment, price rise, income support for the poor, women’s rights, youth issues, and farmers’ welfare.
The announcement came during Tharoor’s participation in the ‘Shape the Future’ program, jointly hosted by the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee and the All India Professionals’ Congress. The program aimed to gather inputs from various sections of civil society to help prepare the party’s manifesto. As a member of the committee responsible for drafting the manifesto, Tharoor emphasized the individual efforts of each party while expressing the possibility of a unified alliance manifesto.
Our manifesto will be ready and out by the time the Election Commission announces the elections, Tharoor affirmed.
The interactive session held on Saturday focused on obtaining impartial and valuable views from different segments of society. Tharoor engaged with stakeholders in various fields, including industry, economy, healthcare, banking, education, information technology, human resources, literature, culture, law, and diversity.
