The Indian National Congress party has criticized the BJP-led government over allegations made by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala accused the Modi government of forcing Twitter to block accounts critical of the government and of threatening the company with raids. Dorsey claimed in an interview that the Indian government put pressure on Twitter to shut down accounts linked to the farmers’ protest. The Youth Congress and National Students’ Union of India have also shared the clip of Dorsey’s interview on Twitter. Farmers from across India have been protesting at Delhi’s borders since November 2020. The government withdrew the controversial farm laws in the winter session of Parliament.
