Congress leaders in Indore, Madhya Pradesh staged a protest against the Bollywood movie Adipurush, demanding an immediate ban on the film. They claimed that the film hurts the sentiments of the people and tarnishes the image of their deities. The protestors burnt the effigy of lyricist Manoj Muntashir and accused the BJP government, Censor Board, and self-styled Hindu organizations of being in slumber and using Lord Ram as a means to secure votes.
Congress spokesperson Vivek Khandelwal and chief of RTI cell Girish Joshi stated that the film’s dialogues were absurd and designed to change the entire Ramayana. They also threatened to launch a severe agitation if the movie was not banned within three days.
The protest was attended by many Congress members, including Chief of SC wing Ramesh Ghate, Kavita Kushwaha, Sunil Sharma, Manoj Rathore, Sunil Chauhan, Naman Kushwaha, Radhey Sharma, and Akash Rathore.
All India Youth Congress also announced the appointment of advocate Jayesh Gurnani as its national coordinator of legal affairs. National in-charge of All India Youth Congress, Krishna Allaravu, national president Srinivas BV, and chairman handed over the appointment letter to Gurnani in New Delhi.
The Congress leaders believe that Adipurush, directed by Om Raut and starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, is a well-planned conspiracy to distort the religious epic and called for the film’s immediate ban. However, the decision for the same lies in the hands of the authorities.
