Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made a significant promise ahead of the Assembly elections in Telangana. If the party comes to power, widows and senior citizens in the state will receive a monthly pension of Rs 4,000 each. Gandhi unveiled this promise during a massive public meeting called ‘Telangana Jana Garjana’ held in Khammam.

During the event, Gandhi highlighted that the Congress party had already made declarations benefiting farmers in Warangal and the youth in Hyderabad. Now, they are announcing another historic step by promising a monthly pension of Rs 4,000 to senior citizens and widows. Currently, the BRS government provides Rs 2,016 per month as pension under the Aasara Pension Scheme.

In addition to the pension promise, Gandhi pledged that if the Congress is voted to power, they will return Podu lands to tribals. He also stated that all lands taken away by the KCR government from farmers and Dalits will be returned.

Welcoming former Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy into the Congress party, Gandhi emphasized that the doors of the party are open to all those who share the Congress ideology. He made it clear that the Congress party has no connection with those who support the ideologies of the BJP and BRS.

Gandhi reaffirmed the Congress party’s commitment to uniting the country, contrasting it with what he described as the ideologies of hate and violence. He expressed gratitude to Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for his padyatra (foot march) covering a distance of 1,360 km, raising issues concerning people and weaker sections of society.

Gandhi commended the loyalty of Congress workers, referring to them as the lions of the party, stating that they have remained dedicated even in challenging times, despite repression from the BRS government.
