The Indore district Congress has submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Police, demanding the lodging of an FIR against the unidentified individuals behind the objectionable posters against former Chief Minister and MPCC Chief Kamal Nath. The delegation led by district in-charge Mahendra Joshi alleged that the posters, with the QR code containing ‘Wanted Corruption Nath,’ were put up by mischievous elements or parties seeking to dent the image of Nath. The Congress leaders also targeted the police, questioning how the posters could be pasted near the district court and old SP office, which are continuously guarded. They accused the BJP of using these kinds of tactics out of frustration for the upcoming elections.
On the other hand, in an ironic twist, the city Congress has put up posters against Union Minister Smriti Irani, calling her Mehengai Dayan (inflation witch) at Regal Square. The posters mention that the price of gas cylinders in 2014 was Rs. 400, and it has increased to Rs. 1150 in 2023. Congress Spokesperson Vivek Khandelwal and RTI Cell Chief Girish Joshi accused Irani of not protesting against rising inflation, despite being active before 2014.
The Congress delegation claimed that these posters were an attempt to manipulate voters before the upcoming elections by tarnishing their party’s reputation. They demanded the immediate removal of such posters and action against the unidentified individuals responsible for defaming Kamal Nath. They also accused the police of not doing their job properly, and providing security to the areas under their jurisdiction, while such incidents keep happening.
The BJP and the Congress have been involved in a war of words, accusing each other of indulging in defamatory activities before the upcoming elections. As the elections are in full swing in Madhya Pradesh, such incidents are expected to continue. Both parties have promised to bring development and progress to the state, and the voters will make their choice in due time.
