The Congress party has alleged a scam in the recruitment exam for patwaris (revenue department officials) in Madhya Pradesh. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of shying away from ordering a probe into the alleged irregularities in the exam. Unemployed youth took to the streets to protest against the alleged scam. The exam was conducted on April 26 by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), and the results were declared in May and June.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took to Twitter to express her concerns, stating that news of another scam was coming from BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh. She questioned why the government was not ordering a probe into the alleged bidding for government jobs. She also raised concerns about BJP leaders being accused of being connected to recruitment scams, and questioned why the future of the state’s youth was being put in the dark.

Protests were held in front of the MPESB office in Bhopal and at the Indore collectorate, demanding the scrapping of the exam and a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged irregularities. Radhe Jat, a member of the National Educated Youth Union’s national core committee, called for a special investigation team of the CBI to probe the alleged scam.

The Congress party has compared this alleged scam to the infamous Vyapam scam, which rocked Madhya Pradesh a decade ago. The Vyapam scam involved an admission and recruitment racket that made national headlines. The Congress alleges that seven out of ten selected candidates in the recent exam had appeared at the same examination centre, which was located in a college run by a BJP legislator.

Arun Yadav, a senior Congress leader, has called this alleged scam another Vyapam scam and claimed that only BJP-backed candidates were selected. However, the state Home Minister Narottam Mishra, who is also the spokesperson for the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, has denied the allegations. Yadav further claimed that eight of the ten selected candidates were from Gwalior-Chambal division, with seven of them being from the same centre at a college owned by a BJP MLA.

The issue has come to the forefront during the monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, which concluded three days ahead of schedule on Wednesday.

In conclusion, the Congress party has alleged a scam in the recruitment exam for patwaris in Madhya Pradesh.
