The political factions in Rajasthan’s Congress and BJP parties are out in the open as they prepare for assembly polls in December. Although both parties are presenting a united front, there are clear divisions, with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot versus Sachin Pilot in the Congress, and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje missing many crucial organisational events in the BJP. Despite these differences, both parties are working hard to emerge victorious and are confident of winning the elections.
Ashok Gehlot is touring the state to promote his government’s schemes, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also visiting frequently. The BJP plans to reach voters door to door through women who benefit from the central government’s schemes. Meanwhile, the Congress is meeting beneficiaries of Gehlot’s publicised inflation relief camps and plans to give women free mobiles for Raksha Bandhan.
Both parties are focusing on reaching out to young voters, with the Congress government in Rajasthan promising free coaching for competitive exams like IAS, RAS and CET. More than 10,000 people have registered for it, and the state government aims to connect with 500,000 students through the initiative.
Both parties also seem to be working hard on beneficiary contact campaigns, with Gehlot meeting beneficiaries of his relief camps, and the BJP cashing in on those who benefited from the Modi government’s flagship schemes.
Gehlot is confident of winning the polls with his social security schemes, while the BJP is focusing on the state’s second-highest unemployment rate, law and order, and Gehlot vs Pilot issues. The BJP believes these issues have brought the state’s growth to an abysmally low level, which is why they remain upbeat about their chances of winning.
