Former Glentoran and Larne midfielder John Herron will not be returning to the Irish League next season, as he has signed a two-year deal with Gibraltar-based club Manchester 62. The club announced the signing on Twitter, hailing it as a great capture of the ex-Celtic man. Herron had been strongly linked to Cliftonville before, but the midfielder looked set to return to the Irish League after a spell in Australia with NPL side Dandenong City. However, last season Herron’s contract with Larne was terminated by mutual agreement after images circulated online of him wearing a t-shirt with a pro-IRA message, leading to a 10-game ban by the Irish Football Association for bringing the game into disrepute. Herron’s arrival at Manchester 62 coincides with the appointment of a new manager, former TNS, Grimsby, and Woking boss Anthony Limbrick, who has signed a two-year deal.
